Privacy Policy for Clean QR Toolkit
Clean QR Toolkit (the "Extension") is a free Chrome extension published by Cardamon Inc. It generates QR codes entirely on your own device. The Extension shows no ads, requires no account, and makes no network requests of any kind. This policy explains what that means for your data.
1. Information We Collect
We collect nothing. The Extension does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information, usage analytics, or telemetry. There is no server behind it and no account to create.
Specifically, the Extension does not collect any of the following:
- Personally identifiable information such as your name, address, email address, or age
- Health information
- Financial or payment information
- Authentication information such as passwords or credentials
- Personal communications such as emails, texts, or chat messages
- Location, precise or approximate
- Web history
- User activity such as clicks, mouse position, scroll, or keystroke logging
- Website content such as text, images, or the source of pages you visit
2. What Stays On Your Device
Everything you type into the Extension is processed locally by your browser and stays on your computer:
- QR code content. The URLs, text, Wi-Fi credentials, contact details, calendar events, and phone numbers you enter are encoded into a QR image by JavaScript running inside the Extension. They are never uploaded anywhere. Because the data is encoded directly into the pattern, the resulting code contains no shortlink or redirect and cannot expire.
- The current page URL. When you click the toolbar icon or press the keyboard shortcut, the Extension reads the active tab's address so it can pre-fill a code for that page. This uses Chrome's
activeTabpermission, which grants access only to that one tab, only at that moment, and only because you performed the action. The Extension requests no host permissions, never reads page content, and never accesses your browsing history. - Your settings and history. Your theme, colors, export size, quiet zone, error-correction level, and clean-URL preference, plus an optional list of your most recent codes (capped at 24), are saved with Chrome's
chrome.storage.localAPI on your device. Nothing is synced to any account or server. You can clear the history or switch it off entirely at any time from the History tab. - Clipboard. When you click "Copy image", the Extension writes the QR image to your clipboard. It never reads your clipboard.
Uninstalling the Extension removes this local data along with it.
3. No Network Activity
The Extension makes zero network requests. It contains no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, no crash reporter, and no remote code. QR encoding is performed by an MIT-licensed open-source library bundled inside the extension package. The Extension works with no internet connection at all.
4. Sharing Your Information
There is no information to share. We do not sell or transfer user data to third parties, we do not use it for any purpose unrelated to the Extension's single purpose of generating QR codes, and we do not use it to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes. Our use of information complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
5. Children's Privacy
The Extension is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, including children under 13.
6. Your Rights
Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export, or delete on your behalf. The data stored locally on your device is under your control at all times: clear it from the Extension's History tab, or remove it completely by uninstalling the Extension.
7. Changes
If a future version of the Extension ever changes how data is handled, this page will be updated before that version ships, and the Chrome Web Store listing's privacy disclosures will be updated to match.
